I have been wanting to make some keepsake boxes for some time now and finally found the time. I have made 13 all together and will be gifting them to family this Christmas. Here are a few of them. Finish is Oil and polly, velour fabric bottoms, brass pin hinges. Enjoy....

It's not clear from the photos how you managed the brass pin hinges. At the risk of revealing your magic, can you proved a few clues?

Hi Dennis, thank you. The brass pin hinges require very precise drilling and the lid and pins are set in place during the glueup. I made a simple mockup of the lid profile and box side to work out the hole lovations to find the proper pivot point so the lid clears the back of the box and comes to rest on the back when opened. One for seeable problem is that the hinges cant be repaird should something happen. The btass is stronger than the wood so I think it would take some serious abuse to break a lid off.
