I know I have not been around for a while but I am surprised how quiet the turning has gone. Here in the UK, 'square' woodworking has taken a dive with the downturn of the economy. However 'round' woodworking has kept going at a good rate, with good trade support. I will have to try and make a few posts here with my feeble little efforts. I have not done much turning yet - but there is still time!

I thought I would have a go at something simple to start with so I decided lace bobbin would be easy - wrong! after several attempts I managed to make ONE in a whole afternoon and it is still on its own - it ain't as easy as it looks this round woodworking! That was a while ago and other than making the odd bowl and turning out a few pens as gifts, I have not had the time to do much else... Yet!

Looks like a beauty to me, but I'm no expert.

Sorry it's been so quite here. I can't speak for every one, but in my case it's been due to the crappy economy, exteme cold and taking care of Jo after her bone marrow transplant last August. She'll need lots of care for the next year or so.

I am back in the shop though. I'm currently working on a series of boxes for sale, and a sign I'm making for a co-worker. I'll post pics once they are done.

Good seeing you again Ralph.
