I manage to steal away an hour or so once in a while to do some of the things that have been in the planning stages for ... quite a while. Finally finished this little guy.

Thanks folks.

I've gravitated to a real non-striving approach to finshing, IP: Just a mixture of beeswax & mineral oil buffed to a low sheen. Since most things I make are intended for use, that's a good easy to repair food safe finish.

Melt the beeswax and stir in about an equal amount of mineral oil. Once cool it makes a nice easily applied paste. I keep it in a small cat food tin since plastic lids for them are readily available for them.

I shouldn't have to mention that using rags for application and buffing while spinning on the lathe risks the rags catching or getting caught on the piece. Hold rags loosely, not wrapped around the fingers and don't let strings or corners get wrapped around the workpiece.
