:) If I remember correctly, some time in the past somebody here was making rolling pins ( french ones with no handles) . I now need information of length, diameter etc.
My daughter-in-law is a great cook and would like one.

FRANK ROBIE: This may help and maybe give a little inspiration.

Go to: http://www.hillcountryturners.org/proje ... g_pins.pdf

The article by their member JOE JOHNSON is about making a laminated pin but the dimensions will be the same for a single specie turning.

As an aside, remember the old ditty about maintaining food contact wooden tools with mineral oil: " When new oil once a day for a week, once a week for a month, once a month for a year and once a year forever". :)

I did a quick search on our site and TMS has a thread about a class he took and made a french pin. He dded a very useful twist on the one he made by adding dimensional marks on the pin to help the baker get to the correct size. Also JOE MAYO in Lawrences thread gives the dimensions he used.

The shortening will "oil" the pin for you. Leave it naked, so dirt won't stick in storage and flour in use.
