Gene showed me how to post pictures.
I turn a few ornaments each year as Christmas gifts for family and friends.
This is my second attempt at the angel ornament. The first broke beyond
repair at the base where the wood is so thin.

A shame you couldn't get better wood, without holes in the middle.
Except for that, nice!

Nice job MM.

Did you turn the angel wings, then carve them to shape?

Wings are a circle turned on the lathe, then cut out on the scroll saw.
Design and instructions are in an article on inside/out turning by David
Reed Smith in Winter 2007 Woodturning Design magazine.

Mr. Smith has a web site with some neat stuff.

Nice work MM. I've seen these types of turnings demonstrated before, but havent tried one yet. Great work on yours. 8)

Those are really nice. I tried one last year but I wasn't pleased enough with it to post a picture. The inside came out ok, but when I turned it inside out, the hole looked really bad. Yours looks pretty good. Maybe I'll try it again after thanksgiving.

Two more finished. Angel has smaller wings and I used walnut for the contrast.
The 4 leaf clovers on the ornament are real, cause I picked them myself.
My wife said clover wasn't a Christmas thing. She wasn't amused when I
said maybe it was an Irish ornament.
