I have the need to do some deep turning and needed to do it the cheapest way possible, this is what I came up with. It Is based on the Jamieson system I found on the internet. The major expense is the cutters, ($160.00+ for me). I used a digging bar from Lowes to make the boring bar and scrap metal for the tool rest. I used a section of round tube for the tool rest and I found out the hard way that hollow tube needs to be filled with sand to stop the singing (ouch on the ears). You would not believe the difference when going deep into a vessel, it is amazing. I can answer questions and post more pictures if anyone wants.

Sounds like a great idea, and I'd love to see some pics.
