Well it sure has been quiet in here the last week or so.

So in an effort to get some discussion going I guess I'll let you all know what has been going on and what's coming up in the near future.

3 weeks ago our turning club held an all day show/sale/and demo at a nearby nature center. The weather was great and the crowd was excited. In sales we had about the best day so far this summer. I had lowered the prices on my turnings due to the fact that nothing was moving in the last few shows. I guess I lowered them too much. But, at least I sold a bunch and now have room for new stock. The demo portion was done by another turner on one machine and me on my mini lathe. I was just free-form turning smaller items and handing them out to the kids in the crowd. Lot of tops, miniature wine goblets (<1"), small bowls and a few spurttles (stirring sticks).

Last weekend on Saturday I turned at our annual indoor show and sale for the kids. Funny thing was that we had very few kids. So I turned for a few interested adults. I gave away the pieces. Time will tell but I think I turned on a few new members to our club.
On Sunday I spent the afternoon doing an open air demo in front of the main gallery where I try to sell my work. The demo really brings in the crowds to the store. Sadly I had no sales. But it was a great day anyway.

This week I have been invited to turn at the Marshfield Fair http://www.marshfieldfair.org/
on Saturday. I will be doing the usual small items and hopefully sell a few pieces. The good news is that I can take my 5 yr old with me to see the fair and to help me out with the turning (ok, I will use him for design ideas). If Hurricane Dan holds the rain off it should be a great day.

Thanks,
---Nailer---
